Meds for Senegal
Ben Adams is planning to go visit his daughter Abby in The Gambia, West Africa, in January. He plans to combine the trip with some time visiting some United Methodist endeavors in neighboring Senegal with Karen Ujereh. Karen spoke at Baker a few years ago and currently coordinates UMC initiatives in Senegal from her home in Avon, Indiana. He is arranging to take several sun ovens and fill them with over the counter medicines. UMW women have approved the funds for one oven and UMW Men for another. We are encouraging all circle to collect the following medicines at their November or December meetings: Tylenol (acetominophene), Ibuprofen, calcium and multi-vitamins for adults and children.
Thank you for supporting this mission and Ben’s trip!

News From the District
United Methodist Women are awesome. We are on the cutting edge of world affairs as they pertain to women, children and youth. Leymah Gbowee, one of the three female winners of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2011, was a speaker at the Women's Division Board of Director's meeting on Friday, October 7th in New York. Ellen Johnson-Sirleafs, one of our own was also a winner. Abigail Disney, producer of Pray the Devil Back to Hell, which featured Leymah Gbowee story, was at the board meeting on Saturday to talk about her new project Women, War and Peace which begins airing on PBS on October 11, 2011. We have much to be proud of, but we also have much to do.
